Welcome to the Lodge Silver Cross Website

This is the new website for our lodge. From July 2016 we will again be meeting as Lodge Silver Cross No 17 UGLQ with a full Scottish Ceremony and adopting our traditional Scottish regalia colours of green and gold.

Pictured is an original Silver Cross Worshipful Master's apron and gauntlets from the late 19th century.

Joint Third Degree - Bros Scott Kompo-Harms and Darin Hindmarsh

A great night at Lodge Silver Cross with Bros Scott Kompo-Harms and Darin Hindmarsh completing their Third Degrees.

 

Bro Scott was delighted to welcome his mentor RW Bro Harry Hepburn from Lodge Caledonia of Canberra 938 UGL of NSW & ACT who travelled to participate in the ceremony. RW Bro Harry presented both aprons.

 

We were also able to formally welcome two new affiliates, RW Bro Milan Pavasovic and Bro Clinton Symons and successfully ballot for a new member Mr Leo Monesi.

 

Many welcome visitors and fine work from the team.

 

The night was capped off with a sit down festive board (the first for some time) which was appreciated and enjoyed by all.

Joint Installation 2024

A wonderful afternoon and evening at the joint Installation meeting of Lodges Silver Cross and St George with Wor Bro Peter Watson (LSX) and Wor Bro Mepi Faoagali (LSG) being installed into their respective chairs of office.

 

A fine ceremony led by RW Bro Rodger Klopp as Installing Master and Wor Bro Simon Bell as Installing Director of Ceremonies.

 

We were delighted to welcome RW Bro Peter Wesener Assistant Grand Master Designate and a fine team of Grand Officers. Sadly the Grand Master, who was scheduled to attend, contracted Covid and was unable to be with us. We wish him a speedy recovery.

 

The ceremony was followed by a most enjoyable banquet at the Kedron Wavell Services Club where Wor Bro Alan KIngston again gave us his great Address to the Haggis.

 

Many welcome visitors and it was great to see our newer members and prospective members in attendance.

 

Third Degree Part A - Bro Paulo Dornelles and Tony Evans (Lodge St George)

Great night at Lodge Silver Cross with Bros Paulo Dornelles and Tony Evans (Lodge St George) completing Part A of their Master Mason Degree.

Good work by all and many very welcome visitors.

Part B at Lodge St George next Wednesday night.

Master Elect - Wor Bro John Burton

Congratulations to Wor Bro John Burton who was elected as Worshipful Master for 2024/25 - his second term. John will have a fine team comprising a number of Master Masons.

 

Lodge Silver Cross has had a very succesful year with new candidates and affiliates and more prospects in the wings.

 

This has come about through the fine work of John and his team this year. The work is good, the culture is sound and members are proud to talk about Freemasonry.

As one of Queensland's oldest working lodges (est. 1869) Silver Cross has a rich history and a bright future.

 

Installation is on Saturday 15 June, details to follow. As usual it will be a double installation with our sister Lodge St George 246.

 

Second Degree - Bro Darin Hindmarsh

Many thanks to The Stanley & General Glasgow Lodge No 37 for hosting Bro Darin Hindmarsh's 2nd Degree this evening.

 

Lodges Silver Cross and St George made a double fraternal visitation. Bro Darin is a member of both lodges.

 

Very good work and great company.

 

First Degree - Bro Paulo Dornelles

A great night to welcome Bro Paulo Dornelles into the Craft.

 

Good work all round and a number of very welcome visitors.

 

Joint Installation 2023

A great afternoon and evening at the joint Installation ceremony of Lodges St George and Silver Cross.

 

We installed Wor Bro Mepi Faoagali and Wor Bro John Burton into the Chairs of St George and Silver Cross respectively. A fine team for each lodge was also invested.

 

We were delighted to have the Assistant Grand Master, RW Bro David Melville, and his team of grand officers in attendance.

 

RW Bro Dave Sherrit PDGM made the trip up from Melbourne and among our welcome vistors was Brother Florian from Switzerland.

 

A good ceremony followed by a very enjoyable banquet at the Kedron Wavell Services Club.

 

Our usual thanks go out to Wor Bro Allan Kingston of Lodge Ashton for his Address to the Haggis. Always in fine form.

 

Both lodges are looking forward to a great year ahead.

 

3rd Degree Part B - Bro Daniel Harding

Great night at Silver Cross with Bro Daniel Harding completing his 3rd Degree.

 

Very good work by the team.

 

It was also the last regular meeting night for both our two-term WM, Wor Bro Brendan Klopp, and our AGDD VW Bro Jim Kidd.

Installation next month in conjunction with Lodge St George.

3rd Degree Part A - Bro Daniel Harding de la Vega

Bro Daniel Harding completed the first part of his 3rd Degree this week at Silver Cross.

 

We're all looking forward to him becoming a fully fledged Master Mason in May.

 

2nd Degree - Brother Daniel Harding de la Vega

Early start to this year's Masonic action for Silver Cross with Bro Daniel Harding de la Vega being Passed to the Fellowcraft Degree.

 

A good ceremony with some fine work being done. Great to welcome some visitors as we get ready to head back to a more traditional program of meetings this year
