Thanksgiving Service at the Abbey

On Saturday 14 August the Right Eminent District Grand Prior, Rt Emt Fr John Ross, held a Thanksgiving Service at St Michaels Church, in the Abbey Church and Museum complex on the Bribie Island Road north of Brisbane.

Accompanying the Rt Emt District Grand Prior were Past District Grand Priors, Rt Emt Fr Stan Krieger, GCT and Rt Emt Fr Len Norman KCT, a contingent of District Grand Priory officers and other members of the Order and a number of their Ladies.

The Service was conducted by Owen Vickers in his role as one of the local Priests of the church. The Order of Service can be downloaded as a PDF file here:

Following the Service an afternoon tea for Fratres and their Ladies was held and then a tour of the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology  took place.

The Church features many old and beautiful stained glass windows, two of which are many hundreds of years old and originated in Winchester Cathedral in the UK.

New Esquire - Ray Hodson

On Tuesday this week the Venerable Preceptor of Iona, Ven Fr Paul Holland, and his officers performed the Pilgrim and Esquire Grades on Comp. Ray Hodson. Ray is a member of Yeronga Lodge No. 246 UGLQ and Stephens Royal Arch Chapter No. 78 SGRACQ.

We were honoured to welcome the recently appointed Rt Emt District Grand Prior of Queensland and Papua New Guinea, Rt Emt Fr John Spencer Ross, for his first visit. Accompanying the Rt Emt District Grand Prior were Rt Emt Fr Len Norman and Rt Emt Kt John Muirhead of the Great Priory of Queensland. The Rt Emt District Grand Prior was attended by a team of District Grand Priory Officers.
